Elimante AllergiesNambudripad's Allergy Elimination Techniques, also known as NAET®, are a non-invasive, drug free, natural solution to eliminate allergies of all types and intensities. One allergen is treated at a time. If you are not severely immune deficient, you may need just one treatment to desensitize one allergen. Basic essential nutrients are treated during the first few visits. Other allergens, both food and environmental, are treated after completing about ten basic essential nutrients. NAET® was discovered by Dr. Devi S. Nambudripad in November of 1983.

Jake Avancena L.Ac. studied with Dr. Nambudripad in 1996. Both hidden and overt allergies respond well to N.A.E.T allergy elimination treatments. We have seen dramatic changes in overall health as well as raised immunity levels for patients suffering from chronic ailments. Even more exciting is that patients with specific allergies or sensitivities that produce obvious symptoms (e.g. Diarrhea, itching, watery eyes, headaches etc.) can have complete elimination of their reactions.

An allergy is an abnormal, adverse physical reaction of the body to certain substances known as allergens.  These substances can be toxic (exhaust fumes or other petrochemicals) or nontoxic (pollens or food) and allergy sufferers will react to quantities that are harmless to most people.

Medical doctors often support a narrow definition, asserting that the only true allergies result from the activation of IgE antibodies.  Millions of people, however, experience allergic symptoms without the antibody reaction.  These people are said to have an intolerance or a hypersensitivity to particular substances.  Although the causes may differ, the diagnosis and treatment of allergy and intolerance often overlap.

Allergies can cause a predisposition to colds and the flu by compromising the immune system and lowering resistance.  Hidden or chronic allergies can cause severe developmental and functional problems, deficiencies, or chemical imbalances.  For example, an allergy to B vitamins can cause B vitamin deficiencies and result in chronic health problems such as chronic fatigue syndrome, attention deficit disorder (ADD), depression, digestive problems, asthma, and headaches.  Most chronic immune disorders such as: CFIDS (Chronic Fatigue), colitis, thyroiditis,  fibromyalgia, chronic herpes etc. have a direct relationship to hyperreactivity to various bacteria, viruses and fungi.

Twenty-five per cent of adults believe they have food allergies but conventional medicine claims that only one or two percent are actual allergy sufferers.  Those who do not have allergies, according to the limited definition of mainstream medicine, have what is called a food intolerance, which can be equally uncomfortable.  Food intolerance does not register on conventional allergy tests although it can be measured using muscle response testing.

Causes of Allergies

The most common cause of allergies is genetic.  The second most common cause is poor digestion.  If food is not properly digested, it will eventually trigger an allergic reaction.  Chemotherapeutic drugs, excessive antibiotics, steroids, or exposure to toxic chemicals or radiation are also important factors in the development of allergies or depressed immune reaction.

Allergic Load Phenomenon

The vast majority of people have allergies or intolerances, most of which are genetic in origin.  In most of these people, these allergies are hidden or inactive.  Over time, one confronts other, more active, or acute allergens.  If one is physically, mentally, or emotionally stressed; lacks sufficient sleep or eats poorly, these chronic hidden allergies become pronounced and the body falls prey to other problems.  Resistance breaks down, the immune system cannot keep these allergies in check, and chronic emotional, functional, or developmental problems arise.  Then, for the first time, one can experience asthma, arthritis, swelling, chronic pain, headaches or chronic fatigue.

Muscle testing is a method of using the relative strength of the muscles to uncover allergies. This method identifies blockages in the electromagnetic fields when one is exposed to, or in contact with, an allergen. Muscle testing bypasses the conscious and subconscious minds. When a suspected allergen is held in the hand, a strong muscle will weaken if an allergy to the substance is present.

The person to be tested generally lies down or sits up and extends an arm at a ninety-degree angle, thumb down, in front of him. The facilitator pushes against the arm to establish the strength of the testing muscle while the subject resists. When the person holds a food or other substance to which he or she is allergic, the indicator muscle will immediately and markedly weaken. Muscle testing can detect both hidden and active or acute allergies. The results of the muscle testing will provide the patient with a fairly accurate idea of how many total treatments will be necessary to eliminate the allergy or allergies that tested positive.

After the muscle test, the doctor does a simple 15-minute acupressure treatment along the spine while the patient holds the allergen. Then the patient receives a gentle acupuncture treatment, which will be from 10 – 30 minutes in length. The patient then avoids the substance treated for a period of 25 hours.

Like many other food allergy sufferers, Diana Gazzolo became disillusioned after she consulted several conventional allergists, all of whom were unable to help, let alone cure her. Now over 40, Gazzolo was 13 years old when she first got hives.

“They were welts, and they itched beyond belief,” she says. “At the extreme, my eyelids, lips, and my whole face would swell. Every morning when I got out of the shower, I had welts on my body.”
An allergist prescribed antihistamines, which made her sleepy. She began altering her diet, which didn’t help things, although by doing so she began to discover some of the foods, such as cheeses, yeast and breads, that were causing her problems. She also tried mind control, willing herself to not itch, which was an uphill battle she predictably lost. Basically, throughout her 20s and 30s, Gazzolo says, “I just lived with it.”

Then she discovered Seldane, an antihistamine that doesn’t cause drowsiness. She became a Seldane junkie. “As long as I could pop a Seldane, I was fine. Little did I know it was causing my heart to race,” she recalls. When she learned of the heart problem, Gazzolo stopped taking the antihistamine. Her allergies then raged out of control, forcing her to often cancel business appointments at the last minute.

Then Gazzolo developed a new symptom. Her throat began closing up, a sign of anaphylactic shock. At this point she decided to try NAET.

Using muscle-response testing, Gazzolo found that she was allergic to 0 or 60 different substances, many of them foods. But after the first two NAET treatments, her symptoms worsened. “What the hell are you doing?” she asked. The practitioner told her that some people get initial reactions like this. “He didn’t try to sell me an instant cure,” she says. It wasn’t until the fourth treatment that Gazzolo saw improvement. “I had fewer hives,” she says. “I came in with about 50 at the beginning of treatment and at that point I had 10. By the fifth session they were all gone. When it finally happened, I just cried.” After 8 treatment sessions, she was asymptomatic and no longer needed to continue. “I’m like a different person now. The bottom line is that there’s hope.”

Not every patient treated with NAET for food or environmental allergies recovers as quickly, or miraculously, as Gazzolo. Nor can you walk into a practitioner’s office and say “Just treat me for chocolate and grass.” NAET practitioners follow the same initial treatment protocol for every patient. Because most allergy sufferers don’t know everything they’re allergic to, doctors begin with testing and treating from a group of 15 common allergens. The basic treatments cover various food groups including eggs, calcium, vitamin C mix, and seven other food categories. These food groups are addressed first since foods are something that one is exposed to constantly. This constant exposure leads to a chronic drain on the immune system, which if not addressed, may lead to failure in the treatment of more specific food and/or environmental allergens.

"Our daughter had a chronic cough that had lingered for seven months and had baffled doctors. Her diagnosis changed frequently and included upper respiratory infection, parasites, asthma and allergies. Over the course of the seven months, she was given multiple medicines to clear up the cough but none resolved the problem. We finally took her to see Jake Avancena L.Ac. where, using muscle testing, she was diagnosed with a virus. The treatment prescribed was several sessions of NAET (allergy elimination treatment). Our daughter had previously been treated for food allergies with success from Jake using the NAET technique. The first treatment significantly reduced the cough. After three additional treatments, the cough was gone. We are very grateful to Jake for restoring our daughter’s health."

"Acupuncture. . . Wow! Who would’ve thought something so simple could be a help with Multiple Sclerosis. Add NAET (allergy elimination treatment) to that and you have a tremendous help. I did not find as much relief with my MS with the traditional methods that exist for MS. When I first experienced acupuncture and NAET and used them in conjunction with the supplements I take, I can truly say I began to experience relief from some of the symptoms of MS. Thank you Jake Avancena. You have helped to make life worth living again."

I had read about acupuncture to help relieve allergy symptoms. I was tired of taking allergy medicines every day, and they weren’t even helping that much. I went to Jake Avancena for several NAET (allergy elimination) treatments. My allergies were almost unnoticeable. That was in October of 2003 and I am still pretty much symptom free in April of 2005. While I was there, I also had acupuncture for an aching knee, and haven’t had knee pain since.

We have been patients of Jake Avancena for over 2 years. He has really helped my son (10) with his allergies and asthma through the N.A.E.T. allergy elimination process. My son is much stronger and so far this season, he is symptom free.

I have also visited Jake for sinus pain and pressure, back pain and allergy elimination I can assure that nothing works on my sinus pain like acupuncture. I also feel much stronger having gone through N.A.E.T.

Jake is a wonderful person and acupuncturist. Our family regards him highly. I have recommended many of our friends to Jake and the feedback I have gotten is that they are equally as pleased.

Thank you Jake for all you have done for our family.
